Light

This week's prompt based on Diwali theme was 'light',

A festive season enjoyed by all people as 'diyas' glow bright

Family, friends arrange a get together for partying the whole night,

Nothing dampening the mood of celebrations, is a wonderful sight.

This word though, transported me to a world different and unique

Writing a poem based on a movie was a challenge and it gave me a kick

Directed by J.P.Dutta, these line below depicts the climax of the movie 'Border'

Based on 1971 Pakistan attacks, the movie reflects sequence  of events in proper order

"Defending the 'Longewala' post for this night will be your mission,

The Hawker Hunter Ground attack planes, we have, has no night vision"

yelled Air Force Wing Commander, Anand Bajwa, in a frustrating tone

This message to Major Chandpuri was sent over the Wireless phone

The Longewala post was allotted a small regiment of 120 soldiers

Major Chandpuri, a brave and experienced veteran took responsibility on his shoulders

The enemy attacked this post as per their plans, with heavy tanks and ammunition'

Our Soldiers retaliated with available limited resources for the pride of our Nation.

As the depth of night increased, the enemy attack became more intense,

Lack of ammunitions' along with less number of soldiers weakened our defense.

The army, though did not accept defeat continued the fight,

Air force team was ready at base, waiting to fly at first bleak of light.

Major Chandpuri had pledged to sacrifice himself for this post,

He instilled the confidence amongst his soldiers that battle was not lost.

Motivating not only with talks, he ensured to be in action, at the ground,

He ensured that the fight continued even though the enemy attacked like hound.

The last man standing ensured Indians could fight out the entire night,

Destroying the enemies tank, Airforce swung into action with first ray of sunlight.

Without a doubt, "Nation before self" is every Indian soldier's stand,

They are definitely well equipped and efficient to protect our Motherland.

Jai Hind!!!
