An Ode to The Don
As the mention of 'Zero' reflected on my mind,
The instant reference with no competition of any kind,
Was the Don who left a cricketing legacy behind,
Undoubtedly, a batsman like him, the game is yet to find.
Sir Donald George Bradman was an ultimate showman,
The entire cricketing fraternity knew him to be a hitman,
His bat did most of his talking on the ground as the match began
A few of his batting records are tough to beat by any living man
He served the cricketing fraternity even after retirement
Served as a Cricketing Administrator as per requirement
He enjoyed 'being in the game', a competitive environment
He gave Australian cricket, the needed enlightenment
That day of Oval, when fans expected one more of his tons
He too knew, he needed only 4 runs to maintain a test average of 100 runs
The second ball 'duck' was disbelief, silenced all the roaring guns
That 'Zero' proved, "Every game is a leveller, even for chosen ones"
Nice sir
