"Did you hear, Raj was caught yesterday for drunk driving?" exclaimed Suresh, reading from a leading newspaper.

"This media wants masala, so many stories are published. Calm down" downplaying his friend's emotions, said Ashish.

"No Ashish, I saw this on the news channel as well." chipped Sumesh.

"I repeat all media survives on TRP, adding names of filmstars like Raj for such cheap activities excites common people like you, so they come up with such stories." advocated Ashish.

Don't worry friends, since my cousin is a next door neighbour of Raj, I will confirm the news.

Raj rose to fame in the past few years, thanx to his entry in 'Big Boss'. Though he was a small time actor in television serials for many years, his winning of Big Boss put him in limelight. His fan-following surged all expectations and he was talk of the town.

Success begets success.

His winning of Big Boss, also made him win the coveted title of, "Most eligible Bachelor of the State." Girls would melt down like cheese hearing his name while boys followed him to learn the tricks of the trade.

One thing happened for sure, he was talk of the Next-Gen gang. Infact, he was informally considered as the face of youngsters.

The next day, Ashish met his friends and. narrated the sequence of incidents to his friends, Suresh and Sumesh. He said,

"That night, his driver had requested for leave due to personal reasons. So, Raj decided to continue with solo-drive. Raj always enjoyed driving but the hectic schedule refrained him from this passion. That day, he got that opportunity.

While driving back home, there was a check naka at Bandra Sealink. As usual, the Police put the 'Breath tester machine' in Raj's mouth. Few Seconds later, Raj came out of car and followed the Officer."

"So, the news was correct na?" interrupted Sumesh.

"Listen friend, I'm yet to finish." affirmed Ashish.

"Actually, the officer-on-duty was a school friend of Raj and both recognised instantly. They connected, spoke a few words. But then the traffic was increasing, so deciding to spend time with school friend, Raj alighted from his car and followed him.

A newspaper reporter saw this sequence of things and made an article which was published the next day. To top it up, the news channel released a story as it appeared in leading newspapers."

There is common saying, "Never believe full of what you hear and half of what you see, the reality may be different altogether."

Ashish concluded by saying, "This is called Grapevine"

PS - Grapevine in Communication is 'Rumours' in common English.
