The Desert Storm
The Desert Storm
The day 22nd April, 1998, the fans expected a
strong reaction
Against the Aussies, the Indian batting failed in action
But, one man stood between the Aussies and their win
He took the onus on self, became the center of attraction
He faced with grit, the pace bowling as well their attack of
spin
Losing partners at other end, he did not let negativity set in
The Master blaster ensured the Indian team reached the final
An innings which earned him the title ‘Desert Storm’ akin
Not only did he contribute for Indian team’s survival
He played a scintillating innings in finals against the same
rival
The team won the title; he was applauded for his cricketing
brain
His innings showcased the mighty Aussies as trivial
Was it a match between one v/s eleven was difficult to explain?
Though the team fought, it was a single man controlling the
chain
The mighty Aussies agreed, even the dust storm failed to contain
That day, the true batting prowess was unleashed like a hurricane
